Eric Deutsch, J.D., Ph.D., is a Buffalo-based mediator, consultant, historian, and advocate committed to advancing disability equity and fostering equitable and inclusive practices that empower clients and practitioners.

Holding a J.D. from Emory University School of Law and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Disability History from the University at Buffalo, Dr. Deutsch brings a unique multidisciplinary perspective to his work. His personal journey navigating acquired disability profoundly shapes his commitment to listening deeply, practicing cultural humility, and challenging systemic ableism. Dr. Deutsch draws on his background as an attorney, educator, and historian to inform his approach, emphasizing the importance of creating safe, validating environments where individuals feel heard and respected.

Recognizing the impact of trauma, Dr. Deutsch utilizes person-centered, trauma-informed approaches to foster open dialogue and collaboration. Whether mediating disputes or consulting on policy, his goal is to remove barriers, support self-determination, and promote social justice. He achieves this by ensuring diverse perspectives shape solutions and by equipping professionals with practical tools needed to serve all community members effectively and equitably.
