In-person workshop.
Co-occurring disorders are increasingly prevalent in the individuals we serve. The treatment landscape is additionally complicated by the interplay of high risk substance use and symptoms of suicidality. This training is for clinicians interested in learning more about risk factors for suicide, accidental overdose, and the co-occurrence of both. Additionally, the training will cover interventions to manage suicidal ideation, collaboratively develop effective safety plans, and implement harm reduction techniques with individuals using substances. Strategies and approaches discussed will take a trauma-informed lens recognizing the importance of safety, choice, and empowerment in this clinical work. Participants will also learn strategies to cope with their own experience of losing a patient to suicide or accidental overdose.
