David Mann


David Mann has been in charge of the Buffalo Police Department's Sex Offense Section since 1995. The Detective Unit is responsible for the investigation of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child abuse, elder abuse, sex offender management, human trafficking and the Juvenile Bureau. He has over seen and directed more than 10,000 sexual assault and abuse investigations, hundreds of investigations of serious physical injury and abuse of children, and the registration and management of registered sex offenders in the City of Buffalo. David was the Coordinator of Crisis Services’ Police & Mental Health Coordination Project, a former Chair of the Multidisciplinary Coordinating Council, and of Erie County Coalition Against Family Violence, and a past Vice President and member of the Board of Prevent Child Abuse New York. He co-founded the Family Justice Center of Buffalo & Erie County and the Child Fatality Review Team, and helped found the first Veteran's Court in the US. Currently, Dave is serving as a board member of the It Happened to Alexa Foundation.
