The MSW and DSW elective courses listed in the expandable sections below have been approved for New York LMSW and LCSW continuing education hours through the University at Buffalo School of Social Work, Office of Continuing Education; recognized by the New York State Education Departments State Board for Social Work as an approved provider for continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0001.
Each approved 3-credit MSW and DSW course is equal to 45 NYSED social work contact hours. If your MSW credit course was less than 3 credits, you will see how many hours the course is approved for next to the course. You may only need to submit one 2-or-3-credit course in each of your license registration periods. If your license has lapsed please reach out to NYSED to determine how many CE hours you need. If you have an out-of-state social work license, you will need to check with your state licensing board to determine if they will accept NYSED approved hours.
NYSED does not allow hours to be carried over from one license registration period to the next. In order to use hours earned from a MSW or DSW course, you must start and end the course within your three-year registration period.
If you do not see your course on this list and would like CEs for the course, please contact your instructor to request CEs be approved for the course by submitting the master syllabi to the CE office.
