Recorded webinar.

Description: Participants will take an expansive look into the First Responder roles, requirements, training, occupational hazards, and complex cultural norms to foster increased confidence in the provision of mental health support services to First Responders and their family members. Participants will explore current data that supports the importance of early identification of primary and secondary stress symptoms, including suicide risk, as well as resources for safety planning. An opportunity to interface with a panel of first responders for a lived experience Q & A will conclude the presentation.

Learning Objectives:

  2. Summarize the scope of vulnerability to suicide risk based on data provided.
  3. Describe 3 operational stressors that often impact the family members.
  4. Name 2 observable symptoms that may indicate a traumatic stress reaction in each category:  emotionally, physically, cognitively, and behaviorally.
  5. Describe at least two strategies for building rapport and maintaining healthy boundaries with First Responders.
