Description

As a recognized and trusted continuing education provider, the UB School of Social Work’s Office of Continuing Education can work with you to enhance the success of your event. Providing CEs, marketing and workshop and conference planning and logistics, we are a centralized resource for your social work and human service training needs. With over 30 years of experience planning, managing, and delivering continuing education experiences, we offer a collaborative, solution-focused approach to developing and implementing professional training. 

 

We have worked with individual trainers, small training institutions, large agencies, and conference providers to customize a plan that meets their needs and budgets. Please browse the tabs for our training support services to see how we may be able to help you deliver a successful event.

 

Important:  All services are subject to review and approval to ensure they meet applicable regulations and our service capacity. If you require an estimate for services or have any questions about your program needs before submitting your request, please email us or call 716-829-5843 before purchasing.

Service Request Instructions

This is a nonrefundable application fee for the review of your service request. This fee will be applied to your balance of the service upon approval of the request and entering into a formal service agreement. 

We request at least 90 days’ notice for all service requests. There is an additional $100 rush application fee for anything submitted less than 30 days in advance of the program start date that will be added to the final invoice for services (does not apply to some email marketing requests)

  1. Review all tabs to determine what services you may need.
  2. Email or call 716-829-5843 if you require an estimate or have any questions about the services being offered or what might best fit your needs. We can often customize a package for you. 
  3. Once you have determined what services you need, add the $100 deposit to your cart. 
  4. Go to the "Handouts" tab and click on the "Support Service Request Form". This will open up in a new tab and prompt you to login if you are not already logged in. If you do not have an account, you will be prompted to create one.
  5. Complete the Support Service Request Form and upload any necessary attachments i.e. Resumes and CV's, and submit the form. 
  6. Got your "cart" and checkout. 
  7. Please allow up to two weeks for review of your documents. A staff member will be in touch with any questions, or to provide you with a decision on the services. If approved, a service agreement and invoice for the balance will be sent. 

CEs/Contact Hours

Important CEU Information

Please do not send any draft event brochures that include us as the provider of CE services unless you have entered into an agreement with us, and have been provided with the correct wording and number of CE hours.

CE certificates will be sent to the requestor upon receipt of required attendance and evaluation documents.

CE services begin at $425 for up to 2 speakers per workshop. Special pricing may be available for conferences, multiple events, and repeated courses. Please contact us if an estimate is needed.

Other CEUs/Contact Hours Upon Request

Additional CEUs are available for an additional non-refundable fee. 

  • NYS OASAS hours, including CASAC renewal hours. OASAS requires requests be submitted 90 days in advance. We cannot guarantee applications submitted to OASAS will be accepted prior to 90 days nor approved upon submission.  
  • In specific situations, we may be able to contract for other CEUs. Please email us or call 716-829-5843 for more information.

Marketing

Our listserv includes over 3,500 individuals. The majority of our listserv is from the Western New York region, but also includes individuals from all over New York State, the country and internationally. 

We send out a bi-weekly community email that includes upcoming workshops and conferences. Events are listed in date order and each host is given a specified amount of space, to advertise their requested event(s).

Marketing services begin at $400 for 3 email campaigns. 

Custom Events and Consultation

We work with agencies, conference hosts, and individual training providers to deliver a successful event. We can customize a package to include any of the following services. Fees determined based on event needs. 

  1. Recommending and finding trainers, including setting up agreements 

  2. Event logistics (event location, trainer accommodations/travel, etc.)

  3. Event flyer for additional marketing

  4. Event registration and customer service. Options include: 

    • ​Certificate distribution

    • Evaluation distribution and summarization

    • Customized landing page

    • Electronic handouts

    • For multi-session conferences and symposiums, a unique and customizable website for registrants

    • Virtual presentation technology solutions for participants

  5. UBSSWCE staff member for event day support

  6. Hourly consultation above and beyond what is needed to complete the requested services to ensure a successful event

Terms and Conditions

In requesting and receiving the following types of services, I agree to comply with the following terms and conditions:

General:

  • Any application made less than 30 days prior to the scheduled training date will be assessed a $100 rush application fee and included on the final invoice (does not apply to some email marketing requests).
  • No partial payments. Any split payments between multiple individuals responsible for financial liabilities must be handled between said individuals.
    • Only one check payment in the full amount may be submitted.
    • Credit card payments may be split between multiple cards at time of purchase.
  • Services for workshops cancelled by requestor are non-refundable.
    • A one-time date change for a program being postponed or rescheduled is allowed for a $50 fee. Date change must be provided when giving notice. New program date must be held within one calendar year of original program start date. The fee increases to $100 if the delivery type changes.
    • A prorated credit of up to 25% for work not completed may be applied to a future request for any service within one year of original program start date.
  • The Office of Continuing Education reserves the right to withdraw CEU approval and/or discontinue future services upon review of participant feedback or if any of the terms and conditions are violated.
  • I will include the provided disclaimer information from the University at Buffalo School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education (UBSSWCE) on all material referencing the event and affiliation with UBSSWCE.

CEU Provision:

  • I will release marketing materials with CEU wording provided by the UBSSWCE only after review and approval by UBSSWCE.
    • I will provide UBSSWCE with all marketing material publicly available for record retention.
  • I will use UBSSWCE CEU approval language for only the workshop(s) listed in this agreement.
    • I will enter into a new agreement for any future CEU needs.
  • For OASAS requests, I will only use the provided pending approval and approved wording as instructed.
    • OASAS application fees are non-refundable.
    • There is no guarantee that a course will be approved by OASAS. 
  • I will act as the UBSSWCE designee in providing CEU certificates and training supervision as follows:
    • Full participation is required to receive CEUs, partial attendance is not allowed.
    • Full day workshops: Attendees can be no more than 30 minutes late or leave 30 minutes early.
    • Half-day workshops: Attendees can be no more than 20 minutes late or leave 20 minutes early.
    • For concurrent session events, I will use an event stamper or other method approved by UBSSWCE to document participant attendance on certificates.
  • Two weeks prior to the training start date I will provide UBSSWCE with the following for review and approval:
    • Comprehensive sign-in sheet that identifies NYSED licensed clinicians (in-person) or documentation of attendance and participation verification (online).
    • Comprehensive evaluation template.
    • Copies of all handouts, including PowerPoint, being provided to participants.
  • Two weeks after the training end date I will provide UBSSWCE with the following for review and record retention:
    • Copies of completed sign in materials (in-person) or completed attendance and participation records (online).
    • The evaluation summary
    • Information on follow up regarding any customer issues from the training as requested by UBSSWCE.
  • I understand that I will not receive CEU certificates for attendees until all required payments, signed agreements, attendance records and evaluations have been received. 
  • I accept responsibility for accommodations and related costs for compliance with ADA/disability laws.

Marketing

  • I will provide all required documentation regarding the training, including, but not limited to, training description, learning objectives, and CEU provider, if not UBSSWCE.
  • I acknowledge that requests for additional email marketing or edits above and beyond the agreed upon amount specified in the “services provided” section may incur an additional charge.
  • I will provide UBSSWCE with the information I would like advertised. Any information above and beyond specified limits may incur an additional fee.
  • I acknowledge that UBSSWCE is not responsible for the success of marketing emails and event registration.

Event Management

  • I will provide all required documentation in accordance to the services I am requesting.
  • I acknowledge that event management and registration is held through the UBSSSWCE Learning Management System (LMS) CE21 and all events will include UB Branding.

FAQ's

If you are not sure if your event is likely to be approved, here is some helpful information to decide if you should move forward with an application. If you continue to have questions, please email us or call 716-829-5843. 

  1. Determine if your topic falls within the scope of practice for a masters level social worker or mental health professional.

  2. Determine if the workshop falls into an appropriate subject area.

    • Theories and concepts of human behavior in the social environment

    • Practice, knowledge, and skills for social workers and mental health professionals

    • Social work and mental health research, programs, or practice evaluations

    • Administration and management or social policy

    • Social work or clinical practice ethics

    • Clinical interventions, evidence-based models, and principles of clinical practice, psychotherapy,and diagnosis

    • Client communication and record keeping

    • Administrative or clinical supervision

    • Pedagogical methodologies or other topics which contribute to the professional practice of social work and mental health professionals

    • Cross-disciplinary offerings that enhance practice (i.e. medicine, law, education, and other behavioral sciences) that are related to the enhancement of social work or mental health skills and knowledge, and the health, safety, and/or welfare of the public

  3.  Determine if the instructor is qualified to teach the course. 

    •  Faculty of a social work or mental health program in a higher education institution; or

    • Instructors who are specially qualified authorities in activities that are directed at developing and enhancing a licensee’s practice

    • All clinical topics must be provided by an instructor with a clinical license. 

    • Qualifications to teach will be supported by the individuals curriculum vitae (C.V.) or resume.
