Recorded Webinar.

Don't Miss Out! Dr. Rusu will be presenting on Differential Diagnosis in the morning from 9am - 12pm! Lunch will be provided for everyone attending in person. Make sure to grab a lunch on your way out if you're only staying for the morning, or come early to have lunch if you're only able to come for the afternoon.

This workshop is designed to delve deeper into the diagnosis of mood disorders, distinguishing them based on their prevalence and developmental symptomatology. We will simplify the complex differences between presentations at different developmental stages using easy-to-understand examples. The workshop will also explore alternative diagnoses that share symptoms with bipolar disorders, such as the ambiguous Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder. For pediatric patients, we will discuss diagnoses frequently linked with mood disorders, such as ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Conduct Disorder. For teens, we will examine substance and medically induced mood conditions. Additionally, we will explore various treatment strategies, including age-appropriate medication management and Evidence-Based therapeutic modalities.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify and define common mood disorders and their prevalence in the pediatric population using real-world examples.
  2. Explain the developmental symptomatology of mood disorders and differentiate between presentations at different developmental stages.
  3. Apply knowledge of alternative diagnoses that share symptoms with bipolar disorders, such as Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder
  4. Differentiate between mood disorders and diagnoses frequently associated with them, such as ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Conduct Disorder in children, and substance and medically-induced mood disorders in teens.
  5. Develop a comprehensive treatment plan that includes age-appropriate medication management and Evidence-Based therapeutic modalities.
  6. Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment plan and make necessary adjustments for optimal patient care.
