Clinical supervision is an essential skill for all professionals in the field of mental health. In our effort to improve the outcomes for those we serve, the direct supervision of our staff becomes all the more paramount.
If you have career goals of becoming a supervisor or are looking for ways to enhance your working knowledge of supervision or improve your effectiveness with staff, this training is for you. Being concrete and pragmatic, this training will offer you dynamic foundational knowledge to begin mastering supervision at your workplace.
During this training, participants will be given hands on applications, exercises, and real-world examples, all geared to enhance confidence in their practice of supervision. Participants will learn how to use the material in this training to create their own clinical "compass" to keep their supervision on course throughout the supervisory relationship.

Daniel Lawson, LMHC, currently works in private practice in Buffalo, NY. Dan is a passionate, eclectic practitioner and bases his practice heavily on a solution-focused approach to therapy. As a result, many of his clients see the results they are looking for in less than six sessions. Dan also uses DBT, positive psychology, mindfulness, CBT, existential, motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy. Dan provides clinical supervision grounded in a solution-focused approach. In addition, he also specializes in supporting Catholic men and woman, effectively combining his faith with his psychological training to provide therapy deeply rooted in Catholic theology and philosophy. Dan is a balanced professional and works effectively with his clients regardless of their spiritual/religious beliefs. Dan worked at Horizon Health Services for a decade where he worked to pioneer and implement best practices in clinical supervision before leaving to work full time in his private practice. In addition to his clinical practice, Dan provides consultation services to local businesses, schools, and government agencies. He specializes in conflict mediation and organizational development utilizing solution-focused methods to build optimal work cultures for all employees. The cancellation and refund policy below applies to individual courses. If you purchased multiple courses at one time they may be subject to individual processing fees. Participants can make payment or refund inquiries by contacting the Office of Continuing Education by phone 716-829-5844 or by email at sw-ce@buffalo.edu. Standard business hours for the Office of Continuing Education are Monday – Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm. Any requests made outside of these days and times will default to the next business day.

Self-Study Completion Requirements
In order to receive a certificate of completion for this course participants must complete the following.

- After the training, take and pass the quiz with a score of 80% or higher. Participants have three chances to pass the quiz. You can access the quiz by clicking on the "Evaluation and Certificate" button for this course.
- After the training, complete the evaluation by clicking on the "Evaluation and Certificate" button for this course.
The certificate of completion will be immediately generated in your account upon completion of all course requirements. Certificates may be downloaded, printed, or left in your account.
