Description: Trauma-informed care is a means of ensuring universal precaution for trauma which requires individuals, organizations, and systems to intentionally neutralize the environment and interactions for re-traumatization. Being trauma-informed requires organizations to also make a commitment to recognize and address biases, racism, oppression, and discrimination that are often inherent in policy and daily interactions. The presenters will provide an overview of the framework created by the Institute on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care to help organizations plan for, implement, and sustain trauma-informed change in ways that ensure safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration, and empowerment, while also promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Case examples from the presenters’ work with various organizations will also be highlighted throughout.
Learning Objectives:
Research: Numerous research articles on trauma-informed supervision can be found on google scholar.
Target Audience: social workers, mental health practitioners, creative arts therapists, marriage and facility therapists, psychologists, addiction professionals, case managers, and other interested individuals.
