This workshop is designed to delve deeper into the diagnosis of mood disorders, distinguishing them based on their prevalence and developmental symptomatology. We will simplify the complex differences between presentations at different developmental stages using easy-to-understand examples. The workshop will also explore alternative diagnoses that share symptoms with bipolar disorders, such as the ambiguous Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder. For pediatric patients, we will discuss diagnoses frequently linked with mood disorders, such as ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Conduct Disorder. For teens, we will examine substance and medically induced mood conditions. Additionally, we will explore various treatment strategies, including age-appropriate medication management and Evidence-Based therapeutic modalities.
