Course Description:
This online course offers the training in primarily a video format. All course handouts can be viewed online, saved to your computer or printed. The course offers a foundation of information regarding implementation of Trauma-Informed Care into the child welfare system. This course is for social workers, administration staff, case workers, receptionists and other organizational staff that interface with children and families in the child welfare system. Implemention of a Trauma-Informed approach in the child welfare system improves services and symptomology for children and families.

James Coder, LCSW-R, is the CEO of New Directions Youth and Family Services, Inc. in Buffalo, New York. He has worked in the Child Welfare and Juvenile Justice for 40 years. James was previously employed as a child care worker and therapist in residential treatment facilities before becoming an administrator. In addition, he has been trained in Trauma-Informed Care by Dr. Ricky Greenwald and participated in a three-year project with Dr. Greenwald at New Directions. Mr. Coder is an alumni of the University at Buffalo.
