This online digital self-study seminar offers the training in a video format with readings and internet videos listed in the handout section. All course handouts can be viewed online, saved to your computer or printed.
The course offers a foundation of information regarding implementation of Trauma-Informed Care in the addiction field. This course is for non-clinical professions including doctors, nurses, receptionists, administration, caseworkers, and other professionals and volunteers who interface with clients’ services from addiction treatment services. Benefits of implementing a Trauma-Informed approach in the addiction field are improved symptomology and retention to treatment. The benefits are not limited to this; rather they far exceed and provide a great amount of support and empowerment to all involved.

Susan Lisker, MS, CRC, is the Director of the NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services Stutzman Addiction Treatment Center located in Buffalo, NY. It is a 33-bed inpatient addiction treatment facility. Susan has helped to implement Trauma-Informed approaches through her work as the Director of the facility. This included developing and implementing innovative Trauma-Informed Treatment utilizing Seeking-Safety, Dialectal Behavioral Therapy and EMDR. Susan has focused and dedicated her career to the addiction field. She is also an Adjunct Faculty member in the University at Buffalo Department of Counseling and Educational Psychology where she is able to share her knowledge and experience with graduate and undergraduate students.
