Every 67 seconds someone in the U.S. develops Alzheimer’s disease. It is estimated that there are 5 million persons with dementia and by 2050 there will be 10 million or more. Healthcare staff is challenged with providing safe and quality care for this vulnerable population – across all the various settings. You are expected to provide compassionate care while achieving optimal patient outcomes, maintaining a secure/safe environment, and assisting caregivers who may suffer from compassion fatigue.

In this seminar, Nanette Lavoie-Vaughan, MSN, ANPPC-C, DNP, will provide you with the latest available information and real practical tips related to the diagnosis and management of all types of dementia. This program includes strategies to help you and family caregivers deal with behavioral problems and the unique challenges dementia presents. The recording will be filled with case studies, interactive sessions and key video examples to learn from. The Montana Board of Behavioral Health no longer pre-approves any courses or sponsors. Each licensee is responsible for taking courses which contribute to their competence and directly relate to their scope of practice as defined in board statute (MAR 24-219-32). Licensees must keep CE documentation for three years in case of an audit. This intermediate level self-study activity consists of 6.25 clock hours of instruction.


New York Social Workers

Nanette Lavoie-Vaughan, MSN, ANPCP-DNP Related Seminars and Products


Nanette Lavoie-Vaughan, MSN, ANPCP-DNP, is an adult nurse practitioner and currently practices in Raleigh, NC, focusing on geriatric and psychiatric care in long-term care.

She has over 30 years of experience, including long term care, acute care, primary care and home health. She earned a Cultural Dementia Care degree from Stanford University.

Nanette has presented nationally and internationally to various interdisciplinary audiences on various geriatric diagnoses/treatments, dementia, pain management, and caregiver concerns. She is the author of Eldercare: The Comprehensive Guide to Caregiving and a new evidence-based clinical practice guideline for the non-pharmacological management of behavioral problems in dementia. Her knowledge and research have been recognized through published work in Clinics of North America and in book chapters and online continuing education modules. Additionally, Nanette serves as an expert witness for law firms on cases related to her field of expertise.
