Description:

EMDR works well with a variety of clients and challenges because it utilizes everyone’s natural ability to digest experiences via the Adaptive Information Processing Model (AIP). EMDR also adapts well to the inclusion of elements of other therapies, additional techniques, and protocols, which can help clients build internal resources, reduce symptoms, and utilize EMDR for healing. In this workshop we will learn several techniques and protocols that clinicians can use before, during and after using EMDR with clients. Via lecture, discussion, client videos and practicum, we will learn Positive Parts on the Team, The Culture and Community Affirmation technique, Early Trauma Protocol (Paulsen & O’Shea), Urge to Avoid (Knipe) and Scribble it Out Technique (Kiesling). We will review Feeling State Protocol (Miller) if time permits.

Learning Objectives

  1. Utilize Scribble it Out Protocol
  2. Practice Positive Parts on the Team
  3. Demonstrate Urge to Avoid Protocol
  4. Describe the Early Trauma Protocol
  5. Integrate the Cultural Community Affirmation Protocol into your practice

Schedule of the day can be found in the "Handouts" tab.
